Get to know Me :)
I'm Jasmine, a young designer passionate about creating! Designing has been a part of me ever since my uncle placed the first sewing needle in my tiny 5 year old hands. At age 9, I basically taught myself how to crochet and knit, and without having a clue what I was doing immediately began designing my own patterns for stuffed animals and bags. As my skills improved over time, I began making more intricate hat and clothing designs, discovering my passion to create and problem-solve. I participated in the American Sewing Expo's Innovation Generation contest for 10 years, which helped me challenge myself while improving my sewing skills, and won the 2014 Grand Prize for my Chainmaille Leather Jacket. I also compete in Runway Repurposed, an annual fundraising event which promotes upcycling old clothes. I completed the 1st stage of the Knitting Master's Certification through The Knitting Guild Association, and am currently enrolled in Oakland Community College's Interpreter Training Program.
More About Me...
I was adopted from China when I was only a few days old and grew up in a large family, the oldest of 7. One day I hope to return to my birthplace doing mission work to help other orphans. My parents home-schooled me from K-12th, helping me become the crazy, creative, independent, imaginative, out of the box person I am today. Since I was young, I have always had a passion for many different forms of art, such as acting, performing, dancing, drawing, and chainmaille. I'm a HUGE literature nerd (an avid Austen and Dickens fan!) and enjoy listening to my favorite books while I craft. My love for Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Wonder Woman (yes, I am also a geek!) inspires many of my favorite creations. I hope to inspire others through my work and life, and help them discover their own unique talents and passions.
